Dr. Tamara Movsesova is an adult psychiatrist with a compassionate, humanistic approach to care. She works collaboratively with each patient to understand their unique experiences and values, and to develop personalized, evidence-based treatment plans that support the patient’s mental health and overall well-being.
She graduated from Cornell University with an honors degree in Psychology and earned her medical degree from the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Movsesova completed her Psychiatry residency at Georgetown University, where she served as Chief Resident and was involved in medical education and the residency admissions committee. Prior to medical school, she worked extensively in neuroscience and biomedical research, which continues to inform her commitment to evidence-based psychiatric care.
Dr. Movsesova treats a wide range of adult psychiatric conditions, including depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and ADHD, with an interest in treatment-resistant conditions. She integrates a variety of psychotherapy approaches, including psychodynamic therapy, CBT, motivational interviewing, and ERP, while placing particular emphasis on the personal, cultural, and lifestyle factors that influence each patient’s mental health. Having lived, worked, and studied in diverse settings, Dr. Movsesova brings a thoughtful, globally informed perspective to her work and values cultural humility in the therapeutic relationship.
