Serving residents across Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (the DMV), our highly trained therapists create a safe, effective, and personalized therapy experience tailored to your unique needs. Additionally, our ketamine therapy options seamlessly complement our ketamine treatments, offering a holistic and effective path toward healing and mental wellness.

The Role of Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy in Mental Health Treatment

Ketamine assisted therapy stands out in the world of psychiatric medicine mainly due to its ability to accelerate relief from symptoms. In current research, it is suggested that ketamine and other psychedelics can reduce inflammation, promote neuroplasticity, and increase connections between different portions of the brain.

This is encouraging news for mental health and general well-being, as these effects on the brain lead to increased psychological flexibility, improved brain health, and the potential to break long-standing behavioral patterns.

At WIP, we are proud to offer ketamine assisted therapy, providing a novel pathway to healing through ketamine treatments. Our experienced psychiatrists and therapists have witnessed firsthand the often remarkable impact ketamine can have on individuals grappling with challenging psychiatric conditions.

While ketamine has traditionally been administered intravenously for its antidepressant effects, widely accepted research now shows that combining ketamine with psychotherapy can lead to profound psychological transformations. This integration of medication and therapy forms the essence of our ketamine assisted psychotherapy, where the supportive therapeutic process becomes a catalyst for change.

While there has been growing research on other psychedelic medications such as psilocybin and MDMA, until FDA approval, WIP does not offer these medications at this time.

Our Ketamine Psychotherapy treatments can be added to all forms of ketamine therapy:

Here’s what sets us apart and why it should factor into your decision-making:

How Does Ketamine Assisted Therapy Work?

We understand that the idea of ketamine assisted therapy may be new to you. Rest assured, your safety is our utmost concern. Before embarking on Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, every patient undergoes a comprehensive psychiatric and medical assessment. Our team of licensed, board-certified psychiatrists and experienced ketamine assisted therapists are there to ensure your well-being, comfort and safety throughout the entire process.

Ketamine assisted psychotherapy can help to expand your mind in new ways. It can help you get more out of your therapy sessions through different perspectives, which can improve mood and alleviate psychiatric symptoms. While working with ketamine, you are temporarily in an altered or expanded state of consciousness, similar to a deep meditation. This can help kick-start the healing process if you’re dealing with depression or trauma. It can also help you work through difficult experiences from your past that may still be affecting your life today.

During a Ketamine infusion session, you might experience:

  • A sense of detachment from your usual thought patterns
  • Enhanced ability to view challenges from new perspectives
  • Increased emotional openness and vulnerability
  • Access to memories or insights that were previously difficult to reach
  • At higher doses, one may have a more visual, symbolic, or spiritual experience

These experiences, guided by our skilled therapists, can lead to breakthroughs in understanding and healing.
